HM Achieves Further IIC Gold Accreditation

The gold rating is the highest standard awarded and is based on independent research from customer experience experts Investor in Customers (IIC). The accreditation takes into account external and internal factors to determine:

  • the quality of service
  • strength of relationships
  • how well a business understands its customers
  • how it meets their needs and how it engenders loyalty.

Staff feedback evaluates how deeply client care is embedded within the company; reviewed are key areas clients expect from their legal provider: trust, fairness and integrity.

Richard Burnett added: “Looking after clients and employees is central to what we do, and we appreciate having independent recognition. The insight gained in 2020 has helped to shape our journey, energising our future. Thank you to everyone who is contributing and helping us to continue delivering services in a fresh and energetic way.”

North-West law firm first to offer pioneering articled apprentice scheme

HM Legal (then Hillyer McKeown) was proud to be the first law firm in England and Wales to offer “Articled Apprenticeships” a programme aimed at opening up the profession to a greater number of talented candidates.

Participating firms work closely with The University of Law (ULaw), which developed the programme, to provide an alternative route to qualification as a solicitor for those who want to earn while they learn.

Successful candidates are employed by the firms throughout the six-year apprenticeship, while studying ULaw’s part-time LLB course in Chester, a qualifying law degree approved by the Bar Standards Board and Solicitors Regulation Authority in England and Wales.

Carol Draycott, Centre Director at ULaw in Chester, said at the time:

“We expect the scheme to appeal to school leavers who do not wish to rack up student debt while at university, but also to people considering a change of career who can make the transition while still earning a salary.

Richard Burnett, Partner at HM Legal, said: “We were delighted to be the first law firm in the country to adopt the Articled Apprenticeship programme. We are a firm with big plans and the opportunity to grow our own talent is an exciting one.

“The traditional full-time university route is not for everyone and this pioneering scheme offers a fantastic alternative route to becoming a solicitor.”
